Abstract (Croatian)

Tema diplomskog rada prikazati je mogućnosti primjene otpadne slame, te usporediti mehanička svojstva kompozita ojačanog s unidirekcionalno orijentiranim vlaknima i kompozita ojačanog slamom u obliku tkanja. U prvom dijelu rada dan je opći prikaz mogućnosti recikliranja otpadne slame. Istražene su prednosti i nedostaci slame kao ojačala u biorazgradivim polimernim kompozitima. \Navedena su svojstva, vrste i primjena biorazgradivih vrsta polimernih kompozita, s posebnim osvrtom na poliester polilaktičke kiseline (PLA). U eksperimentalnom dijelu rada pokazana je izrada kompozitnog materijala s matricom od polilaktičke kiseline ojačanog prirodnim vlaknima od ječmene slame te ispitivanje mehaničkih svojstava ispitnih epruveta: savojne čvrstoće i savojnog modula elastičnosti, međuslojne smične čvrstoće i žilavosti.

Abstract

The thesis shows possible applications of waste straw, and compares the mechanical properties of composites reinforced with unidirectional straw fibres to those reinforced with straw fibres in the form of weaving. The first part of the thesis presents the information on recycling waste straw. The advantages and disadvantages of the straw as the strengthening compound in the biodegradable polymer composites have been explored. Properties, types and application of biodegradable types of polymer composites, with special emphasis on the polylactic acid (PLA) have been studied. The experimental part of the thesis demonstrates the production of composite materials with polylactic matrix reinforced with natural fibre from barley straw. Following testing of mechanical properties was performed: flexural strength and flexural modulus, interlaminar shear strength and toughness.
