Abstract

In 2009 Croatian National Laboratory for Length (HMI/FSB-LPMD) verified its Calibration and Measurement Capability (CMC) for its stabilized Helium Neon laser, which provides the means to realize the SI definition of meter through its wavelength. In 2010 Laboratory verified the CMC value for interferometric measurements of gauge blocks. These two systems form the top level of traceability chain for measurement of length, with the primary laser providing a well-defined wavelength, and an interferometer system which can establish the length of gauge blocks in terms of this wavelength. This paper will present the setup of Laboratory’s gauge block interferometer, along with current development of a new interferometer system.
