Abstract (Croatian)

Ovim radom proučavana je razgradnja prirodnih organskih tvari u podzemnim i površinskim vodama putem vrlo reaktivnih hidroksilnih radikala, generiranih kao posljedica djelovanja UV zračenja u prisutnosti vodikovog peroksida. Kao izvor UV zračenja koristi se niskotlačna živina lampa pri valnoj duljini od 254 nm. UV-VIS spektrofotometar i uređaj za mjerenje ukupnog organskog ugljika, TOC analizator, primjenjivani su za praćenje rezultata te određivanje optimalne koncentracije vodikovog peroksida pri kojoj će UV/H2O2 postupak biti najučinkovitiji. Provedena su ispitivanja djelovanja izravnog UV zračenja, vodikovog peroksida bez UV svjetlosti i UV zračenja u prisutnosti vodikovog peroksida na razgradnju prirodnih organskih tvari. Rezultati su pokazali da UV zračenje u prisutnosti vodikovog peroksida ima velik utjecaj na razgradnju prirodnih organskih tvari u vodi, dok vodikov peroksid bez izlaganja UV zračenju nema nikakav utjecaj.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was investigation of degradation of natural organic matter in ground and surface waters through very reactive hydroxyl radicals, generated as a result of UV radiation in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. As a source of UV radiation is used low-pressure mercury lamp at wavelenght of 254 nm. UV-VIS spectrofotometer and the device for measuring total organic carbon, TOC analyzer, were applied to monitor the results and to determine the optimal concentration of hydrogen peroxide in which the UV/H2O2 process will be the most effective. We did the investigation of effects of direct UV radiation, hydrogen peroxide without UV light and UV radiation in the presence of hydrogen peroxyde of the degradation of natural organic matter. The results showed that UV radiation in the presence of hydrogen peroxyde has a large influence on the degradation of natural organic matter in the water, while hydrogen peroxyde without exposure to UV radiation has no effect.
