Abstract (Croatian)
Zotero je program otvorenog koda unutar Mozilla web-preglednika namijenjen automatskom dohvaćanju, uređivanju i upravljanju bibliografskim bilješkama; eksportiranju istih u razne formate i izradi bibliografije različitih stilova. Razvili su ga Center for History and New Media na George Mason University. Osim primjene uspješnih osobina svojih prethodnika, iskorištava i dostignuća modernih softvera i mrežnih aplikacija: iTunes-a i del.icio.us-a, osiguravajući interakciju, stavljanje oznaka i napredno pretraživanje. Članak opisuje njegove mogućnosti i kompatibilnost s određenim standardima, naglašavajući njegovu primjenljivost u knjižničarstvu. Detaljnija usporedba pojedinih programa za upravljanje bibliografskim bilješkama nije predmet ovog rada.
Abstract
Zotero is an open source program inside the Mozilla Firefox web browser intended for automatic retrieval, organization and reference management, reference export into various formats, and creation of bibliographies of different styles. It has been developed by the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University. Reference management programs (reference managers) store and organize papers cited by users. They are intended for researchers, teachers, students, and librarians, and are used for creating personal databases which contain specific references important to each user. Zotero promotes a new approach to developing tools for reference management. Unlike its predecessors (EndNote, RefWorks, ProCite) which represented separate applications, Zotero has occupied the place where the users are seeking information on the web, inside the Mozilla Firefox web browser. Along with the application of successful features of its predecessors, Zotero uses achievements of modern software and web applications such as iTunes and del.icio.is, providing interaction, tagging, and advanced search. It works equally well off-line, except that then, of course, it does not reach on-line units which are stored in the collections. This article presents the main functions of Zotero and its compatibility with specific standards, emphasizing its application in libraries. Finally, we must add that a more detailed comparison of reference management applications is not a theme of this article.
