Abstract (Croatian)

Problem određivanja ukupnog otpora katamarana daleko je složeniji od istog problema prisutnog kod jednotrupnih brodova. Složenosti hidrodinamičkog sadržaja ukupnog otpora katamarana doprinosi i pojava interferencije trupova koja može biti i viskozna i valna. Na temelju rezultata ispitivanja četiri modela katamarana provedenih u Brodarskom institutu u Zagrebu određen je faktor forme primjenom metode Prohaske. Određene su komponente ukupnog otpora ispitane serije katamarana primjenom metode Froudea i metode Insela i Mollanda. Dobiveni rezultati su ekstrapolirani na katamarane u naravnoj veličini i izračunate su vrijednosti ukupnog otpora. Relativne pogreške između vrijednosti dobivenih metodom Froudea i metodom Insela i Mollanda prikazane su dijagramom. Na temelju ukupnog otpora katamarana odabrana je najpovoljnija forma katamarana sa stajališta otpora.

Abstract

The problem of determining the total resistance of catamarans is far more complex than the same problem in case of monohulls. Interference of hulls, which can be viscous and wave interference, contributes to the complexity of the hydrodynamic content of the total resistance of catamarans. The form factor is determined using Prohaska’s method based on the resistance tests of four catamaran models carried out in Brodarski Institut in Zagreb. Components of the total resistance of tested catamaran series are determined using Froude and Insel-Molland method. The obtained results are extrapolated for full scale catamarans and the values of the total resistance are calculated. Relative errors between the values obtained with Froude and Insel-Molland method are presented in the chart. The most favourable catamaran hull form from resistance point of view is chosen based on the total resistance of full scale catamaran.
