Abstract (Croatian)

Radom je obuhvaćen razvoj matematičkog modela peristaltičkog gibanja fluida u ljudskom ureteru. U prvom dijelu rada dan je biološki opis uretera kao dijela mokračnog sustava, geometrija uretera te mehanička svojstva. Također, dan je opis propulzije urinarnog bolusa kao rezultata razmatranog fenomena peristaltičkog strujanja. U sklopu rada razvijen je programski kôd u softverskom paketu MATLAB koji opisuje peristaltičko strujanje urina u ureteru. Kôd se temelji na matematičkom modelu sustava diferencijalnih jednadžbi rješavanih pomoću Ruge-Kutta metode, posebno izrađenom u okviru ovog diplomskog rada. Također, dan je matematički opis modela te pretpostavke na kojima se model temelji. U matematičkom modelu se kao varijabla pojavljuju otpor prestrujavanja urina iz elementa u elelment, brzina širenja aktivacijskog vala, period aktivacijske funkcije, površina uretera pri pelvisu u trenutku aktivacije, elastičnost stjenke i promjena tlaka otvaranja elemenata po duljini uretera. Na kraju je istražen utjecaj navedenih varijabli na duljinu i površinu bolusa te maksimalni protok ejekcije urina u mjehur.

Abstract

This thesis deals with the modeling of peristaltic transport of urine through the ureter. First part of the thesis shows biological description of the ureter as a part of urinary tract, ureter geometry and mechanical properties. Here is given the description of urinary bolus propulsion as a result of peristaltic motion. Mathematical model of peristaltic transport of urine in the ureter is developed as a program code in MATLAB software package. The code is based on system of differential equations and Runge-Kutta solving method, specially developed in this thesis. In this part is also given the theoretical description of the model, as well as a boundary conditions. Variables in mathematical model are: flow resistance, expansion rate of the activation wave, period of activation function, ureteral pelvic area at the time of activation, wall elasticity and change of the elements opening pressure at the length of the ureter. At the end is investigated the influence of these variables on the length and surface of bolus and on the maximum flow ejection of urine to the bladder.
