Tourism is an important and large industry which encapsulates a multitude of energy intensive services, a large variety and number of special vehicles, generally located in sensitive ecological areas. Biofuels in tourism sector of Croatia has high potential as a new and renewable energy source and can be used as substitution fuel in the vehicles which are used in sensitive ecological areas. One of the possible raw materials for production of biofuels in Croatia is used cooking oil. Research has shown that restaurants in Croatia yearly produce about 3 litres of used cooking oil per seat and that average person in Croatia produces about 2 litres of used cooking oil per year. This paper analyses Croatian potential of used cooking oil collected from households and tourism related activities for biofuels production.
