Abstract
The contract was signed between EU Commission and Uljanik Shipyard as partners in the «DE-LIGHT Transport» project. One of six work packages, WP4B “Implementation of lightweight sandwich panels for the car deck structure” on a multipurpose CON/RO Carrier is led by Uljanik. Partners included in this work package are University of Zagreb, Technical university of Helsinki, Class. Society DNV, Meyer Werft Shipyard, Balance Technology consulting, APC Composite, Swedish Institute of Composites Swerea SICOMP and Technical University of Gdansk. The overall result is a developed an optimised structure using DE-LIGHT Transport defined deck sandwich modules. Design of the deck structure, production process development, lifecycle cost and safety evaluation is concluded with a lightweight deck module prototype and testing. The De-ELIGHT structure provides the following advantages to the shipbuilding process and the ships performance: Modular design of deck structure along with the deck weight reduction up to 35 %, reduced shipbuilding time for 3 weeks, production process cost reduction up to 20% (deck structure), better stability, increased deadweight, HFO consumption and CO2 emission reduction up to 2%, increased cargo intake up to 200 standard cars and lifecycle cost savings.
