Abstract (Croatian)

U radu je opisan toplinski umor kao mehanizam dotrajavanja kalupa za tlačno lijevanje koji uz djelovanje ostalih mehanizama dotrajavanja značajno skraćuje eksploatacijski vijek kalupa, što znači smanjenje efikasnosti procesa te visoke troškove proizvodnje. Opisani su postupci modificiranja površinskog sloja te postupci prevlačenja kojima je moguće znatno povisiti otpornost alatnog materijala na toplinski umor. U eksperimentalnom dijelu rada provedeno je ispitivanje svojstava prevlaka koje su postupkom PACVD nanešene na površinu uzoraka s ciljem povećanja otpornosti na toplinski umor. Prevlake TiN i TiBN te prethodnog kaljenja i plazmatskog nitriranja predlažu se za produljenje eksploatacijskog vijeka kalupa kod realnih procesa tlačnog lijevanja.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe the thermal fatigue as a mechanism of failure of the mold for die casting which, in combination with other failure mechanisms, shortens the life span of the mold. This results in decreased efficiency of processes as well as increased cost of production. The alteration of the outer layer and the process of hard coating are suggested as ways of increasing the resistance of the tools to thermal fatigue. For the empirical part of the paper, an experiment was conducted with the aim of uncovering the characteristics of the hard coating that offers maximum restistance to thermal fatigue when applied to the outer layer of the tested samples. According to the research results, TiN and TiBN hard coating and previous heat treatment,in addition to plasmatic nitriding, have proved to be the most efficient ways of expanding the life span of the mold involved in die casting.
