Abstract (Croatian)

Posljednjih godina intenzivno se radi na razvoju metoda poboljšanja svojstava i trajnosti drva i sustava prevlaka-drvo. Svojstva drva poput dimenzijske stabilnosti, vodonepropusnosti, otpornosti prema biološkoj razgradnji te otpornosti prema ultraljubičastoj i Sunčevoj svjetlosti, pa čak i mehanička svojstva drva mogu se poboljšati modifikacijskim (toplinskim i kemijskim) postupcima. Nadalje, uvođenjem novih materijala za površinsku obradu s nano- česticama može se povećati vodonepropusnost, a dodatno i otpornost prema ultraljubičastom zračenju. Postupci toplinske i kemijske modifikacije se u inozemstvu već komercijalno primjenjuju, dok se djelotvornost ostalih pokusnih postupaka, kao što je obrada površine nano premazima, tek treba potvrditi u praktičnoj primjeni. Zbog poboljšanih svojstava drvo ostaje konkurentan materijal u graditeljstvu, posebno za drvna pročelja, ograde, prozore i vrata, vrtni namještaj, ali i kao materijal za podove i namještaj u interijeru.

Abstract

Lately, an intensive work is being made on development of methods to improve properties and durability of wood and also wood-coating systems. Properties like dimensional stability, water-tightness, resistance to biodegradability and resistance to UV and Sun light, even mechanical properties can be improved by applying various modification methods (including heat and chemical treatment). Furthermore, by implementing new materials for surface treatment with nano-particles, properties like water-tightness and resistance to UV light can be additionally improved. Heat and chemical modification methods are already commercially available abroad, while effectiveness of other experimental procedures, like nano surface treatment is still being evaluated in practical use. Because of its improved properties wood remains competitive material for civil engineering, esspecially for wooden entrances, railings, doors and windows, garden furniture but also for floors and interior furniture.
