Optimization of hull structural elements dimension in early design stage is essential for high speed vessels. The influence of smaller block coefficient on propulsion power demand is essential and in same time on project characteristics and vessel’s price. Additional savings can be achieved by optimization of deck transverses web height specially for multi-deck ships in order to obtain lower Equipment Number and smaller Gross Tonnage reducing additionally vessel´s price and port fees. Ship structural design optimization procedure in concept design is presented on a new RoPax vessel example. Methodology of subjective and objective decision making for the optimal design selection has been given. Improved procedure that combined ship general and ship structural design has been suggested.
