Abstract (Croatian)

Unatoč činjenici da obvezujući hijerarhijski slijed postupanja s otpadom nalaže ponovno korištenje i recikliranje, kao primarne mjere, često se kao prevladavajuća alternativa planira mehaničko-biološka obrada ili spaljivanje miješanog komunalnog otpada. Svrha ovog rada je primjenom LCA metodologije ili procjene životnog ciklusa proizvoda (engl. Life Cycle Assessment), te tehno-ekonomskom analizom ukazati na važnost pravilnog izbora sustava postupanja s otpadom.Ova problematika razrađena je kroz pet poglavlja. U prvom poglavlju analizirani su podaci o količinama i vrstama otpada u gradu Zagrebu, te načinu prikupljanja. Drugo poglavlje razrađuje tehničku definiciju varijanti, polazeći od trenutnog stanja prikupljanja odvojenog, te miješanog komunalnog otpada. Treće poglavlje razrađuje ekonomsku definiciju varijanti definiranih u drugom poglavlju. U izračunima investicijskih troškova i dobiti korišteni su egzaktni podaci, ali i procijenjene vrijednosti pojedinih stavki, u slučajevima kada egzaktni podaci nisu dostupni ili ne postoje. U četvrtom poglavlju obrađen je komparativni prikaz rezultata LCA analize, a u petom poglavlju prikazani su komparativni rezultati tehno-ekonomske analize dviju varijanti. Analizirane su varijante uspostave koncepta kružnog gospodarstva (engl. circular economy) u usporedbi s aktualnim radnim planom gospodarenja otpadom grada Zagreba, koji se temelji na termičkoj obradi otpada.

Abstract

Despite the fact that a binding hierarchy of waste management requires the re-use and recycling as primary measures, the mechanical-biological treatment or incineration of mixed municipal waste is often planned as a dominant alternative. The purpose of this thesis is to show the importance of correct choice of the system of dealing with waste via application of the LCA methodology or Life Cycle Assessment of the product and using techno-economic analysis. This subject is elaborated in five chapters. The first chapter analyses data on the quantities and types of waste in the city of Zagreb, as well as the method of waste collection. The second chapter elaborates on the technical definition of variants, starting from the current situation of collecting separate and mixed municipal waste. The third chapter elaborates the economic definition of variants defined in the second chapter. In the calculations of investment costs and profits, I used exact data as well as estimated values of individual items in case when exact data are not available or do not exist. The fourth chapter dealt with the comparative analysis of LCA analysis results. The fifth chapter presents the comparative results of the techno-economic analysis of two variants. Analysed variants of establishing the concept of a circular economy have been analysed and compared with the current work plan of waste management in the city of Zagreb, which is based on the thermal waste treatment.
