Abstract (Croatian)
Donošenjem sve strožih normi koje propisuju dopuštene emisije štetnih tvari, proizvođači motornih vozila suočeni su sa sve većim izazovima u daljnjem razvoju motora s unutarnjim izgaranjem. Među brojnim istraživanjima koja su provedena u proteklih nekoliko desetljeća, koncept izgaranja homogene gorive smjese s kompresijskim paljenjem (engl. Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition - HCCI) prepoznat je kao jedno od mogućih rješenja jer zahvaljujući kombinaciji pozitivnih značajki procesa Otto i Diesel-ovog motora ostvaruje vrlo nisku emisiju štetnih tvari i visok stupanj djelovanja. Međutim, primjenu HCCI motora onemogućuju brojne poteškoće koje je potrebno prevladati. Zahvaljujući velikom napretku ostvarenom u razvoju računala i računalnih simulacija na kojima se u sve većoj mjeri temelji razvoj motora, problemi vezani za rad HCCI motora se postupno rješavaju. U ovom radu određeno je moguće područje rada HCCI motora pogonjenog etanolom koristeći simulacijski program AVL Boost. Radi brzog i jednostavnog određivanja područja rada motora korišten je detaljan model motora u kombinaciji s Vibe-ovim modelom izgaranja. Temeljem dobivenih rezultata kreirana je matrica radnih točaka za koje su određeni profili izgaranja koristeći višezonski model HCCI izgaranja s detaljnom kemijskom kinetikom te ekvivalentni, ali reducirani, model motora kako bi se smanjilo potrebno vrijeme za proračun.
Abstract
Due to ever tightening legislation that restricts the levels of pollutants that may be emitted from internal combustion engines, vehicle manufacturers are constantly pressured to develop and produce ever cleaner and more fuel-efficient engines. Amongst the numerous research projects conducted over past few decades, the homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion has recognized as one of the most promising solutions because it has potential to provide diesel-like engine efficiency and very low pollutant emissions. However, significant challenges associated with HCCI combustion process need to be overcome before the commercial application of such engine can be considered. Many of these obstacles can be solved due to significant advances in computing power of modern computers and increasing application of advanced computational simulations in internal combustion engine development. In order to determinate feasible operational range of HCCI engine, in this paper a performance map of ethanol-fueled HCCI engine has been created using simulation software AVL Boost. A detailed engine model in combination with Vibe combustion model was used for simple and fast completion of this task. Based on obtained results, a matrix of working points had been made in order to calculate heat release profiles for each working point using multi-zone HCCI combustion model with detailed combustion kinetics for the previously used, but reduced, engine model in order to reduce required computational time.
