Abstract

n this paper the cyclic strain controlled fatigue testing is experimentally investigated. The test is carried out to assess fatigue properties of cast steel GP240GH (standard EN 10213-2). Test procedure follows recommendations of the ASTM E606 standard for strain controlled fatigue test. Parameters of hysteresis are inputs for strain – life (ε–N) curve calculation. This curve is usually used to determine the number of cycles Ni required for crack initiation. Here, the Coffin–Manson model is used. It is based on the continuum mechanics approach, where is assumed that the material is homogenous and isotropic.
