A system for hydrogen production via water electrolysis using solar energy was designed and presented. Investigations were related to the experimental measurements and modeling of electrolyser and PV module separately then as coupled system. The goal was system efficiency increasing and its simplification. There were investigated electrolysers features related to the operating temperature, operating voltage and operating electric current. In electrolyser mathematical model were investigated influential parameters on its UI characteristic: parameter related to electrolyte ohmic resistance, parameter related to electrodes overvoltage, electrodes active surface. Performed investigations resulted with an electrolyser improved mathematical model. Afterwards there were discussed methods of models calculations and coupled system design. A special emphasis was on the adjusting of electrolyser UI characteristic and MPP trajectory of PV module. Intersections of electrolyser UI characteristic and UI characteristics of PV module provide an UI characteristic of coupled system. Mathematical models are routed through Simulink / Matlab Software.
