Abstract

Lean production is one of the most important methods that a company has to adopt to remain competitive in today’s manufacturing environment. Value stream mapping is a valuable tool for understanding companies’ processes and identification opportunities for improvement and therefore a good starting point in adopting lean tools and principles. However, is value stream mapping good enough for any production process or some other process mapping tool could be useful? This is discussed within the article on one real example.
