Abstract

Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) presents one of the latest technologies in dynamic automated storage and retrieval systems. Various possible applications in industry, due to many benefits of VLMs, require proper design of such systems. This paper gives short overview of VLMs’ main components, application areas, benefits and drawbacks, as well as one developed model for single VLM-human order-picker system and available software tool for decision-support in design. Some results of analysis of throughput model behavior due to possible changes in input parameters are presented at the end.
