Abstract

Due to the emergence of new production technologies, and increases in the complexity of the product, it is necessary to use new sophisticated measuring systems. Optical methods for measuring three-dimensional shapes have, in the last ten years, achieved rapid expansion in the market. They are used in various fields such as the automotive industry, aerospace industry, medicine, archaeology etc. This paper describes the scope of application and operating principle of optical 3D systems and presents the problem of measurement traceability of these measurement systems. The aim of this paper is to identify all possible sources of measurement uncertainty for optical 3D measurement systems.
