High market demands that is oriented to the manufacturing of complicated products within short time at low cost have led to the increasing application of additive manufacturing, especially for small or individual series. These technologies can assist in identifying the basic mistakes that are expensive to correct if they are detected when the product has already started. However, parts are not cheap, and decision how to produce them to obtain maximum benefit, sometimes is difficult. Besides of the cost of materials also the cost of machine and postprocessing plays a significant role in the price of the produced part. Recently low-budget machines appear on the market. Those machines are mainly based on Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). For each additive process, because of its advantages and disadvantages it is necessary to design a particular product to obtain maximum benefit of the procedure and the available machine. In this paper it is shown some principles how to design and produced housing with fused deposition modeling.
