Abstract (Croatian)

Tema završnog rada je ispitati mogućnosti računalne tomografije u karakterizaciji metalnih kompozita s matricom od titana. U teorijskom dijelu rada su opisani metalni kompoziti s naglaskom na njihovu proizvodnju te njihova primjena u zrakoplovstvu i ostalim područjima. Također, opisan je način rada te prednosti i mane industrijskih uređaja za računalnu tomografiju. U eksperimentalnom dijelu rada napravljena je analiza mikrostrukture titan-magnezij kompozita pomoću svjetlosnog mikroskopa i uređaja za računalnu tomografiju. Rezultati tih dviju analiza su uspoređeni te je dan zaključak o primjenjivosti računalne tomografije u karakterizaciji metalnih kompozita.

Abstract

The theme of this thesis is examination of possibilities of computed tomography in the characterization of metal composites with titanium matrix. In the theoretical part of thesis metal matrix composites are described, with the focus on their production and their use in aviation and other industries. Furthermore, operating methods, advantages and disadvantages of industrial devices for computed tomography are also described. In the experimental part of thesis the analysis of microstructure of titanium-magnesium composite is conducted with an optical microscope and computed tomography. The results of those two analyzes are compared, and the conclusion about the applicability of computed tomography in the characterization of metal matrix composites is provided.
