Abstract (Croatian)

Abstract

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a health problem of relatively low frequency, but with a high incidence of fatal consequences. The exact cause and development of AAA is still unexplained, and most of the aneurysms are diagnosed by accident. They are detected at physical examination or on ultrasound, CT scans of MRI of the abdomen exercised for other reasons. Because of the foregoing reasons, AAA is the subject of numerous scientific studies in the last few years. In line with the increasing capabilities of computers, but also the development of the new algorithms for numerical analysis of physical problems, numerical methods in engineering such as Finite element method (FEM) and Finite volume method (FVM) are being applied more and more in the field of bio mechanics and biological fluid mechanics. Thus, the topic of this work is numerical modelling and simulation of the blood flow through abdominal aorta. The calculation itself is carried out for five geometric models using finite volume method, with use of OpenFOAM. The calculation covers five geometric models which reflect the history of the geometry of the aorta during the formation of aneurysm.
