Abstract (Croatian)

Ulaskom u Europsku uniju Republika Hrvatska se obvezala sukladno svojim mogućnostima i prirodnim obilježjima povećati udio energije iz obnovljivih izvora energije i smanjiti štetan utjecaj na okoliš. Jedan od obnovljivih izvora energije prisutan na gotovo svim područjima je biomasa. U ovome radu provedena je tehno-ekonomska analiza kogeneracijskog postrojenja na biomasu na konkretnom primjeru – pilani. Cilj rada bio je ispitati utjecaj subvencija na isplativost projekta, pri čemu je naglasak stavljen na poticanje tržišnom premijom. Koristeći ulazne podatke iz prakse i postojeću literaturu, analizirana su četiri scenarija koji uključuju izgradnju kotla na biomasu i ORC postrojenje, a jedan od scenarija i izgradnju centraliziranog toplinskog sustava. Nakon iznošenja teorijskih osnova o kogeneracijskim postrojenjima i načina odabira odgovarajuće tehnologije, objašnjene su metode korištene u proračunu. Provedeno je toplinsko mapiranje objekata u blizini proizvodnog pogona, čiji su rezultati korišteni pri analizi. Rezultati mapiranja pokazali su kako rijetka gustoća naseljenosti uzrokuje visoke specifične investicijske troškove te relativno nisku dobit uslijed prodaje toplinske energije. Analiza scenarija pokazala je neisplativost gradnje postrojenja bez subvencionirane prodaje električne energije. Utvrđeno je kako je najisplativiji scenarij prodaja električne energije uz subvenciju te korištenje otpadne topline u vlastitim sušarama. Unutarnja stopa povrata najisplativijeg scenarija iznosi 14% u periodu od 10 godina. Važno je naglasiti kako veća snaga postrojenja omogućava ugovaranje niže referentne cijene čime se povećavaju izgledi za odobravanje subvencioniranja. U okviru ovoga rada proučen je i alat Bioheat Profitability Assessment Tool. Alat se nije pokazao prikladnim za razradu scenarija, ali su njime izračunate određene vrijednosti korištene u proračunu te su uspoređene s prethodno dobivenim vrijednostima. Utvrđeno je kako je alat uz jednostavnost primjene točan i koristan za okvirni proračun kotlovskog postrojenja.

Abstract

By entering the European Union, Republic of Croatia committed to increase share of renewable energy in final consumption and battle the climate change. In order to contribute to the common goals it is necessary to focus efforts into renewable energy sources. A great potential acknowledged in Croatia is biomass. In this thesis a techno-economic analysis of a biomass cogeneration plant has been conducted on the real-life example – sawmill. The main goal was to investigate the influence of subsidies on project’s economical viability, with a special accent on the feed-in-premium model. Four scenarios have been investigated based on the practical data and literature. They include biomass powered boiler, ORC module and in one of them ORC is connected to the district heating network. After the literature review on cogeneration plants and the ways of selecting the proper technological solution, the calculation methods are explained. Heat mapping of the nearby objects has been conducted, and the results have been used later in the calculation. The results show that low population density causes high specific investment costs and low return. The results of the techno-economic analysis are presented, different scenarios are compared and the most feasible solution in terms of technological and economical viability is identified. The most feasible solution is selling the electricity on the market with the feed-in-premium and using the waste heat for wood drying kilns in-house. The internal return rate of this scenario equals 14% for the period of 10 years. In this thesis the Bioheat Profitability Assessment Tool has also been studied. The tool does not seem to be appropriate for this type of analysis, but several values have been calculated and compared with values used in the calculation. The results show that this simple-to-use tool is an accurate enough and useful for approximate calculations.
