Međusobna povezanost strojarstva i medicine kao znanstvenih disciplina svakim danom sve je veća. Neprestani napredak strojarstva sve više utječe na pojedine grane medicine koje se također unapređuju i usavršavaju. Jedan od očitih primjera svakako je današnji pristup sanacije prijeloma kostiju. Kosti su organi koje tvore koštani sustav, a ukupno ih u tijelu ima 206, i daju čvrsti okvir ljudskom tijelu. One daju potporu i oblik tijelu, tj. osiguravaju stabilnost tijela, te omogućuju uspravno držanje opirući se sili teži i djelovanju ostalih mehaničkih sila. Kod prijeloma ili napuknuća kosti najbolje rezultate kod sanacije daje operativni pristup pri kojem se u cilju stabilizacije prijeloma primjenjuje bušenje kostiju. Bušenje je postupak obrade odvajanjem čestica (rezanjem) koji se upotrebljava za izradu provrta manjih promjera ili proširivanje provrta većih promjera. Sve procese obrade odvajanjem neizbježno prati i proces trošenja oštrice reznog alata. Proces trošenja nastaje kao posljedica opterećenja kojima je alat izložen tijekom procesa obrade. Neovisno o vrsti zahvata, kod svih intervencija koje uključuju bušenje kosti neminovno dolazi do oslobađanja topline koja može značajno utjecati na uspješnost zahvata. Eksperimentalni dio ovog rada provodio se u Laboratoriju za alatne strojeve na Fakultetu strojarstva i brodogradnje. Cilj ispitivanja bio je utvrditi utjecaj sterilizacije na intenzitet trošenja medicinskog svrdla kod bušenja kostiju. Planiranje pokusa provedeno je u nekoliko koraka, a sastojalo se iz izbora odgovarajućeg ispitnog uzorka i svrdla, te pokusa bušenja ispitnog uzorka pomoću parametara koji se koriste kod ručnog bušenja u koštano - zglobnoj kirurgiji. Za postupak bušenja su korištena dva svrdla, od kojih je jedno bilo podvrgnuto postupku sterilizacije, a za procjenu istrošenosti svrdla mjerena je širina trošenja na stražnjoj površini, VB.

Abstract

The interconnection of mechanical engineering and medicine, as two different scientific disciplines, grows every single day. Continuous advancements in mechanical engineering affect particular medicine fields that evolve and make huge progress as well. One of the examples is today’s way of dealing with bone fracture. Bones are organs that form skeletal system. There are 206 different bones that provide a strong frame to a human body. They also provide the support, the shape of the body, as well as secure the stability and enable upright posture by opposing the gravitational force and other mechanical forces. Operating procedure, where bone drilling is performed in order to stabilize the bone fracture, provides the best results in the recovery. Drilling is a cutting process done by separating the particles, and is used for creating drill holes with small diameters or enlarging drill holes with bigger diameters. All processes done by separating the particles are followed by wearing of the cutting tools. Wear occurs as a result of the loadings that tools have to withstand during the drilling. Independent on the type of procedure, all interventions that involve bone drilling, heat release occurs and it can tremendously affect the success rate of the Experimental part of this thesis was done in the Laboratory for tooling machines on Faculty of mechanical engineering and naval architecture. The goal of the experiments was to find out the influence of sterilization on the wear intensity of the medical drill bit during bone drilling. Planning of the experiments was done in few steps, and it consisted of choosing the right sample, the drill bit, and the experiment of drilling the sample with the parameters that are used in hand drilling in bone - joint surgery. For drilling, two drill bits have been used, from which one was subjected to sterilization procedure, and for the assessment of the wear, flank wear parameter, VB, has been measured.
