This report elaborates in detail the design, verification and stability analysis of control systems targeted for oil drilling facility electrical drives. The aim of this report is to provide a comprehensive picture of the controlled electrical drive behavior for: (i) rotary drill-string electrical drive (top-drive control system), (ii) draw-works electrical drive for longitudinal drill-string motion (WoB/RoP control system), and (iii) coordinated control system for multiple speed-controlled mud pump drives. This report also introduces a novel cross-coupling control system between the rotary and the draw-works drive, which can prevent the occurrence of large torsional torques in vertical drilling conditions by automatically adjusting the weight-on-bit (WoB) target value.
