Cilj ovog rada bio je istražiti kako vrijeme provedeno u vodenom, anaerobnom okruženju utječe na abrazijska svojstva subfosilnog drva hrasta. To je određeno usporedbom abrazijskih svojstava subfosilnog drva hrasta, izvađenog iz korita rijeke Save, s recentnim hrastom iz istog područja. Zbog svojih mehaničkih svojstava hrast je jedna od naših najcjenjenijih vrsta, a osobito je cijenjeno subfosilno drvo hrasta. Metodom 14C radiokarbonskog datiranja subfosilnim uzorcima je određena starost. Također je određena gustoća te mikro i makrostruktura svih uzoraka. Abrazijska otpornost je ispitana na uređaju Taber abrader, korištenjem sedam različitih brusnih papira. Oba subfosilna hrasta imaju nižu gustoću i troše se više od recentnog. Starost i gustoća subfosilnih uzoraka nisu direktno povezani s intenzitetom abrazijskog trošenja. Mlađi subfosilni hrast (890 god.) ima višu gustoću i više se troši od starijeg subfosilnog hrasta (1195 god.). Povećanjem abrazivnog zrna, intenzitet trošenja raste linearno kod svih uzoraka do granične veličine abrazivnog zrna, nakon čega blago pada.

Abstract

The goal of this paper was to determine how time spent in a wet, anaerobic environment influences the abrasive wear resistance of subfossil oak. That was determined by comparing abrasive properties of the subfossil wood, found in Sava river, with the abrasive properties of a recent oak specimen. Due to its mechanical properties, oak is one of the most esteemed trees in Croatia. The age of the three samples was first measured using 14C radiocarbon dating. Furthermore, their density as well as their their micro and macrostructure were determined, and were followed by measuring their abrasive properties using seven different sandpapers on a machine for Taber abrasion. After the examination and analysis, it was concluded that both subfossil oaks have a lower density and abrasive resistance than the recent sample. Age and density of subfossil samples are not directly linked to their abrasive wear resistance. The younger subfossil oak (890 yrs.) has a higher density and wears out more than the older subfossil oak (1195 yrs.). By increasing abrasive size, wear rate intensity of all samples grows with a linear trend, up until a critical abrasive size, after which it declines.
