Abstract (Croatian)

Tema ovog rada je vodni otisak, metode njegova izračuna i njegova uloga u rješavanju problema nestašice slatke vode. U uvodu se prikazuje koncept vodnog otiska, njegove podjele i procjene. Predstavljena je međunarodna norma ISO 14046:2014 u kojoj je opisana metodologija izračuna vodnog otiska. U sljedećem poglavlju navedeni su mogući ciljevi i opseg procjene vodnog otiska koji su potrebni za izračun vodnog otiska koji je opisan u 3. poglavlju. Objašnjen je postupak izračuna vodnog otiska procesnog koraka, proizvoda (uz primjer rafiniranog šećera i pamučne majice), potrošača ili grupe potrošača, geografski određenog područja i nacije (talijanska potrošnja korištena kao primjer). Također, prikazan je odnos vodnih otisaka različitih primarnih izvora energije. U narednim poglavljima obrađuju se procjena održivosti vodnog otiska i formulacija postupanja s vodom. Na kraju je napravljena usporedba vodnog i širokoj javnosti poznatijeg ugljikovog otiska.

Abstract

The topic of this thesis is water footprint, water footprint accounting methods and its role in solving freshwater scarcity problems. In the introduction part we are acquainted with the concept of water footprint, its components and assessment. International Standard ISO14046:2014, which provides principles and guidelines for water footprint assessment, is presented as well. Possible goals and scope of water footprint assessment are listed in the next chapter. Chapter 3 explains water footprint accounting of a process step, product (with the example for refined sugar and cotton shirt), consumer or group of consumers, geographically delineated area and nation (Italian consumption listed as an example). Also, ratio between the water footprint of different primary energy carriers is shown. Following chapters provide information about water footprint sustainability assessment and water footprint response options. In the last chapter a comparison between carbon and water footprint is made.
