Abstract (Croatian)

U ovom radu prikazan je utjecaj mehaničkih svojstava jezgre i ljuski na mehanička svojstva cijele kompozitne sendvič konstrukcije. Sendvič konstrukcije različitih materijala jezgri i broja slojeva ojačanja u ljuskama ispitani su savijanjem u tri točke kako bi se izračunali iznosi specifičnog savojnog modula elastičnosti i savojne čvrstoće. Za ocjenu svojstava sendvič konstrukcija u ovisnosti o njihovoj gustoći, izračunati su iznosi specifičnog savojnog modula elastičnosti i savojne čvrstoće te je na temelju tih vrijednosti dana procjena broja slojeva za postizanje optimalnih svojstava s obzirom na korištenu jezgru. Krutost uzoraka osim eksperimentalnim ispitivanjem izračunata je i numerički putem računalnim simulacijama, zajedno s predviđanjem uzroka loma. U radu su objašnjene prednosti kompozitnih šasija u odnosu na čelične u kategoriji natjecanja Formula Student te je provedeno eksperimentalno ispitivanje kompozitnih uzoraka s ciljem ispunjavanja uvjeta pravilnika FS natjecanja za izradu kompozitne šasije.

Abstract

This thesis shows the influence mechanical properties of the core and the shells have on the mechanical properties of the whole composite sandwich structure. 3-point-bend test has been conducted on sandwich structures of different core materials and number of layers in the shells in order to evaluate their flexural modulus of elasticity and bending strength. To properly evaluate each specimen’s performance regarding its density, specific properties were calculated. Based on the specific properties of samples with different core materials, an optimal number of layers has been found. Bending stiffness and evaluation of the main cause of composite failure has been evaluated both experimentally and numerically by means of a simulation software. Thesis covers the advantages of using a composite chassis over its steel counterpart for use in Formula Student competition. The procedure of compulsory testing of the sandwich structures in order to pass the requirements set by the FS rules is also covered in this thesis.
