Abstract (Croatian)

Aluminijeve legure važan su konstrukcijski materijal u modernom zrakoplovstvu koji tradicionalno prevladava u konstrukcijama putničkih zrakoplova. Svojstva aluminijevih legura mogu varirati u širokom rasponu kao rezultat kemijskog sastava i mikrostrukturnog stanja na koje je moguće utjecati toplinskom obradom. Mehanizmom toplinskog očvršćivanja putem rastopnog žarenja i dozrijevanja moguće je poboljšati mehaničku otpornost aluminijevih legura i time omogućiti njihovu primjenu u uvijetima većih ekspoloatacijskih opterećenja.

Abstract

This thesis is composed of two parts: a theoretical and a practical part. In the first, theoretical part, a historical overview of the use of aluminum in aeronautical engineering is given to highlight the historical and practical applications of aluminum in aircraft structures. Functional requirements aircraft materials need to fulfil as well as the most important properties of design materials are also presented. Finally, different methods of aluminum alloy hardening are described and the basic types of aluminum alloys used in aircraft structures listed. In the practical part, the results of a study into precipitation heat treatment as one of the most important types of heat treatment, are presented. The study was carried out to find out how aging time affects the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys. Since precipitation heat treatment is temperature dependent aluminum alloy aging temperatures were also investigated to determine their effect on the properties of aluminum alloys.
